So I stumbled across this high quality post about
the devil today.
Manufactured food scares me so much these days. Maybe it's that as a researcher I have to read about it all the time or maybe it's just because I have a habit of reading the ingredients on everything (just in case they have something like
Diacetyl tartaric acid ester of mono-diglycerides. I memorized that off of a can of non-dairy dessert topping about 3 years ago. I only later figured out that
diacetyl-morphine is the chemical name for heroin. And of course that explained why it gave a few people headaches
*. (Heroin is simply morphine that has been chemically altered to get past the blood-brain barrier more easily, thus smaller quantities need to be smuggled and sold for the same net high/street value.))
Ummm back to the topic at hand....
oh yeah
HFCS is bad. Go read this
drunken sherpa's blog for more about why.
back to work!
* Discalimer: My chemistry/neurochemistry knowledge is no where near good enough to actually guarantee that the "Diacetyl" in both cases is working/bonded/whatever the same way. But it does seem logical to me that it would be. Please feel free to correct me if you feel that you might know more.
